I just wanted to update you all on our progress.
We are still working on the video for Kickstarter and hope to have it up and running by this weekend. We’ve had a lot of fun putting it together, and the final product is inches away from completion- it keeps on being delayed by new (inspired!) creative ideas.
When the video is up we will launch our funding bid through Kickstarter. We want to raise $8000 in 90 days to fund our first trip down to the Guarani Aquifer. The way Kickstarter works is that if you don’t reach your target amount you don’t get a penny (equally if you surpass it you get it all) so it’s really important that we reach our goal, otherwise its going to be back to the drawing board regarding getting down to South America.
And this is where all of you come in. We really need your help in promoting the project and spreading the word about it: we only need 320 people to donate $25 and we’ll have reached our target. Most of us have at least that many ‘friends’ on Facebook! Even if you don’t feel you are able to donate financially, spreading the word about what we’re doing is really valuable, and a huge help, as well.
In order to try and get lots more people involved in the project, we are going to launch a twitter photo campaign to try and get everyone thinking about how water percolates every part of our lives. We will be sending out a photo a day via twitter for the 90 days that we’re on Kickstarter. These photos, taken by Vasilios and myself (and possibly another contributor… more to follow on that one), will show how we use water everyday.
We, of course, want you to get involved and we’d like you to send us your photos of how water is used in your community. Think creatively about all the different things that you do every day that include water- I suspect that you’ll be surprised at how much of your day is water reliant. We will be publishing all your photos in a special photo-stream on our flickr page.
Please send us any ideas that you have about the project, ways we can promote it or people we should talk to. We want you all involved!
